From Facebook to Twiiter, millions of users have logged on and created profiles on social media applications to exchange messages, links, video and more. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t still new users or people late to the social media party. For these newbies, here are some social media tips to help get started.

Create a secure password. The main purpose of social media is to share information, but much of that information is personal. Therefore, social media is prime target of hackers looking to steal some of your most private information, from social security to credit card numbers. So don’t skimp on the password.
Find friends online and off. Social media apps feature search tools from find friends with a variety of filters. You can search by name, location and even email address. However, a great way to build you friend total is just by letting other know that you can be found online.
Embedding video is easy. Viral videos come with codes and links for embedding that make it extremely easy to cut and paste into your social media posts and share away.
Update constantly. No one likes silence, especially on social media. Sending out one or two posts a day is enough to keep people interested in what you have to say.
Write like a pro. Social media users like their information to be clear and easy to follow. That means writing in a way that’s brief, such as using 2 instead of “to”.
